Hot Date on Houston Street
One of my husband’s and my favorite things to do for date nights is a restaurant “hop.” We get drinks at one place, then visit 1 – 2 more places before heading home.
We had not been to Houston Street before but had heard great things.
Saturday night, we had secured our babysitter for 3 hours. It seemed like we might be pushing it, to visit 2 places in one night but we figured we could try and see what happened.
First Stop @8:30pm: Bastion … the place was hopping! I would call the vibe really fun, casual but trendy (most people were in jeans/street clothes). We only went for a drink and my cocktail was delicious. I got the cocktail du jour it was a little sweet but it sure went down easy! Their dinner experience sounds unique. We got to know a couple of the other customers and they highly recommended dining via the Kitchen Counter. Reservations can be made here.
Next Stop @9:15pm: Hemingway’s Bar & Hideaway. It was pretty busy when we arrived. Our server was one of the nicest servers we have had in a while, he smiled, made us feel welcome and didn’t rush us (a huge bonus, always!). He suggested their seasonal watermelon cocktail and oh.my.gosh. was it delightfully smooth. We decided to dine on the following and we highly recommend each of these. Also, here is their menu:
Firsts 1: Crab Cakes
Firsts 2: Market Soup, Celery
Main 1: Market Fish
Main 2: Nicoletto’s Kale Gnocchi
Final Stop #3 @10:30 : Flamingo Cocktail Club. This stop was recommended by the same, super nice guys that we met at Bastion. They said it was super fun for dancing and they were right (& we actually ran into them again at the Flamingo, after dinner!). They had a 90’s playlist going which was fun for Cory & Me haha and the mood was sultry but alive if that makes sense! I LOVED my cocktail, the Coco Royale, it even had a rose petal on it. I kind of wish I had one in my hand right now as I type this.
It was so fun to cap the night off with some dancing and it made us feel like we were back in Europe, where the night doesn’t have to end with dinner. We are sure to visit Houston Street again for a date night, soon!
