Smoked Tomato Pasta Sauce

This is a pasta sauce unlike any other that I have made before. Cory and I both voted it our FAVORITE ever! It has so much depth of flavor; this is an additive, crave-worthy pasta sauce and so easy! Paired with Banza pasta, you will have a fantastic, fresh, perfect, easy meal.

I added some cooked Italian chicken sausage crumbles to ours to add some protein – delish but you could always leave the meat out.

Smoked Tomato Pasta Sauce

So much depth of flavor; this is an additive, crave-worthy pasta sauce.

  • 1.5 pounds tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 c extra virgin olive oil I just did a healthy drizzle…make sure tomatoes are nicely coated 🙂
  • 1 T Italian seasoning
  • 6 grinds fresh pepper
  • 6 grinds sea salt
  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 T minced garlic

  1. This is SO easy! Make sure your smoker is hot/ready.

  2. Mix all tomatoes, olive oil, italian seasoning, salt and pepper together. Place in a cast-iron pot or disposable pie tins (the acidity from the tomatoes will make a mess of your pans and will not come off!)

  3. Let smoke for 30 – 40 minutes.

  4. Pulse blend in blender until a smooth/chunky consistency.

  5. In a skillet, sautee diced onion, bell pepper and garlic. Once fragrant and softened, add to blender and pulse again.

  6. Add mixture to the large skillet and add 2 cups of beef broth. Let simmer & thicken until you're ready to serve.

  7. We served this with Banza brand pasta and it was fantastic! You can buy a wonderful variety pack here.
